Training is underway here at Brown Dog Outfitters for Iditarod 2009!  We have 24 dogs in training and we're running two teams with the help of our handlers, Erik Skilbred, Shannon Chase, Roy Stamey and Jonah Lilley. Erin has also helped put miles on the dogs. She and Erik ran teams in the Two Rivers Hamburger Run on January 21st and they both did well.
Team BDO has somewhat of a new look as we adopted two Alaskan Huskies, Theo and Kimik, from the Fairbanks Shelter last February and as a result we're not entirely Siberian anymore.  They are both great dogs and Theo is a very promising leader. We're also getting some leader help from three other dogs loaned to us from John Schandlemier, Zoya DeNure and Jessica Hendricks. The rest of Team BDO features dogs that have proven themselves in the Don Bowers 200, the Taiga 300 and the Sheep Mountain 150. We qualified for Iditarod 2009 with all Siberian teams and we expect them to do the same great job in the Iditarod this March. This will be our last shot at reaching Nome, so please keep us in your prayers. See you on the Iditarod Trail!
